Planning Your Own Trip to Japan

Image
Going on your own to Japan ? Why not ? Fushimi inari shrine, Kyoto     Here are some tips! People might be scared of going to a foreign country without tour or on their own because of language barriers, getting lost, not knowing what to eat.  AFRAID NOT - for in Japan, there is no need to worry about all of those things. You can use google maps to go anywhere, delicious food everywhere, and easy public transportation! In fact, I always prefer traveling on my own as I can choose the places I want to go, how long I want to spend my time there, and how much money I am going to spend (of course, the lowest budget possible). So without further ado, this is how I plan a tight-budget but wonderful trip to the land of the rising sun. 1. Look out for plane tickets on SALE! Look out for travel fairs like from Garuda Indonesia, Singapore Airlines or from Airasia's website. They almost always have promos for cheap tickets to go to Japan. To get a cheaper pr...

Taking a Break to Paradise Island - Raja Ampat

Image
RAJA AMPAT - THE LAST PARADISE A view you would see in postcards - Piaynemo island     With breathtaking views of untouched nature, clear waters and spectacular marine life, Raja Ampat is a paradise on land and sea. There was a tale that says that from 7 eggs, hatch 7 humans, but 4 of them became kings on the 4 main islands which are Misool, Salawati, Batanta and Waigeo, which give rise to the name 'Four Kings' or Raja Ampat. To reach Raja Ampat, my family took a flight from Jakarta to Sorong, followed by a ferry boat ride at 9 AM from Sorong to Raja Ampat. Then we were picked up by our driver. Renting car + driver here costs Rp. 500.000 for one day. 1. Kali Biru We rode a small wooden boat that fits about 8 people. With the small waves rocking us from side to side, the boat took us towards the mountains. The valleys are getting closer to us, the sea getting smaller, forming rivers instead.  Walking on the shallow river and into the...

Top Things to do in Osaka

Eat and Shop in Osaka For more info and various places to go, I always find this website useful when planning on travelling to Japan: www.japan-guide.com 1. Dotonbori  Dotonbori is a famous tourist spot in Osaka with a wide range of delicious restaurants, street food, and places to shop. It is a must to take a photo with the famous Glico sign in Dotonbori. Try experiencing Osaka's nightlife in Dotonbori with all the lights on the streets. Forgive my face, I think I was about to laugh at something  There are lots of clothing shops like UNIQLO, H&M, Forever 21, and lots of other Japanese shops too. Delicious takoyaki with a whole octopus! It just melts in your mouth. Be careful it's hot! Must try street food: Takoyaki and Okonomiyaki! They taste different from those in Tokyo, in fact, I personally like the ones in Osaka better. 2. Side trip from Dotonbori: - Shinsaibashi is a straight road full of places to shop. Go visit 100 yen shops f...

From Jeju with Love Camellia Hill, Jeju   All photos uploaded in this post were taken by my brother Lixy.  Do visit his instagram @notlixy for more photos, and please notify and credit him if you want to post his photo. Thank you Me and my family went to Jeju on 1 - 7 January 2017 to see the wonderful nature of Jeju island. I made my itinerary by searching online, but I mostly find this website useful: Official Korea Tourism Organization That website has the photos, address, opening hours, and other info of tourist sites that I go to. You can search the name of the places there ^^  And don't worry, all the places I mention here, you can find them in the rental car's GPS so it is easy to go there. For tips on what to prepare to go to Jeju, visit my previous post. It was winter there, however we came too early to see snow in the city, so the only place we could see snow is at the top of Halla mountain which is a 5-hour hike and sadly my family are ...
