Me and my family went to Jeju on 1 - 7 January 2017 to see the wonderful nature of Jeju island.
I made my itinerary by searching online, but I mostly find this website useful:
Official Korea Tourism Organization
That website has the photos, address, opening hours, and other info of tourist sites that I go to. You can search the name of the places there ^^
And don't worry, all the places I mention here, you can find them in the rental car's GPS so it is easy to go there.
For tips on what to prepare to go to Jeju, visit my previous post.
It was winter there, however we came too early to see snow in the city, so the only place we could see snow is at the top of Halla mountain which is a 5-hour hike and sadly my family are not really into hiking.
Nonetheless, there are other things blooming in the cold winter of Jeju island.
In winter, camellia flowers, hallabongs and tangerines grow in Jeju!

Camellia Hill (카멜리아힐)
Their website: http://camelliahill.co.kr/Official Korea Tourism link
For girls who love flowers, this place is pretty much heaven.
Pink and red flowers bloom everywhere in the garden, and there are many photo spots everywhere!

Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak [UNESCO World Heritage]
Official Korea Tourism linkWhen I googled for one of the must-go places in Jeju, this is at the top of the list as it is also awarded as UNESCO World Heritage.
It is quite a workout to climb the flight of stairs to the top of the mountain. But the view during the journey and at the peak is worth the climb.
They say watching sunrise from the crater is magnificent. So try going there on sunrise.

Before going to Seongsan Ilchulbong, I went to Seopjikoji (as it is closeby), and before I arrive, I saw this field of flowers at the side of the road, so we stopped by to take some pictures!
Turns out you have to pay to go into the flower field, I think it's only 1000 won.
Seopjikoji (섭지코지)
Official Korea Tourism linkSeopjikoji is located at the eastern shore of Jeju island, and was used as filming locations for several Korean TV dramas.
When I went there, I can see why it is used for filming.
Even before arriving at the location, the empty road on the shore is already as if it came out from a movie.

Sanbangsan Mountain (산방산)
Cute cafes to chill out in or in this case, warm yourself in |

I also found this cute cafe which sell such an adorable ice cream!

Yes, it's a pirate ship back there
You can also walk to Yeongmori beach (용머리해안) from Sanbangsan. The beach is very unique as the rocks along the seashore cliffs are stacked up forming a unique cliff.

Daepo Jusangjeolli Cliff (주상절리(대포동지삿개))
Jusangjeolli are stone pillars that looks like coins stacked on top of one another. It was formed by the lava when it erupted from Hallasan mountain.
| Jeju's iconic stone totem is like their mascot |
Oedolgae Rock (외돌개(제주))
Oedolgae Rock a.k.a the 'lonely rock' was also a filming location of a 2003 TV drama. The view from there is also amazing as it is surrounded by islands and cliffs.

Cheonjiyeon Falls (천지연폭포)
When we went here, my brother didn't come with us so I only took few photos using my iPhone. However it is a very scenic and serene place where you can walk by the river under the shade of the trees, before finally reaching the waterfall. There are many fishes and colorful ducks swimming in the river too!

“If you catch a falling maple leaf, you will fall in love with the person you are walking with… It’s like how they say you will marry your first love if you catch a falling cherry blossom.” -Ji Eun Tak-
So I actually brought home a few maple leafs and put it into my book 😝
Last but not least...
SHOPPING TIME
Jeju Jungang Underground Shopping Center (제주 중앙지하상가)
| Wefie in the mirror |
Like the name, this is an underground shopping center. So find a parking space nearby and just enter one of the gates like this photo below.
And of course, prices in Korea are way cheaper (compared to Indonesia that is). However, if you want to buy a lot of cosmetics, I would suggest you buy from the stand-alone stores at the side of the streets. Because we bought cosmetics from ETUDE HOUSE at the side of the street in Seogwipo area, and I got tax refund and free samples since we bought quite a lot of stuff at once.
So make a list of the things you want to buy and just buy it all at once.
Oh, the face masks are also cheap there so you can even buy face masks for souvenir!
One last destination I would suggest is to go to Hallasan mountain.
Because it is the biggest mountain in Jeju and is also one of the top destinations to go to in Jeju. I really wanted to hike up the mountain, however my brother was not wearing sport shoes and he does not want to ruin his good shoe, and my mom's shoe broke down too so we decided to go back down after hiking 1.6km up the mountain. It is a long hike, so if you are into hiking you should definitely go for it, I'm sure the view is worth it. Choose Yeongsil trail, it should be the easiest trail to hike.
Thank you for reading this post!
Hope you too will be able to experience the wonderful nature of Jeju island.
