Top Things to do in Osaka
Eat and Shop in Osaka
For more info and various places to go, I always find this website useful when planning on travelling to Japan: www.japan-guide.com
1. Dotonbori
Dotonbori is a famous tourist spot in Osaka with a wide range of delicious restaurants, street food, and places to shop. It is a must to take a photo with the famous Glico sign in Dotonbori.
Try experiencing Osaka's nightlife in Dotonbori with all the lights on the streets.

| Delicious takoyaki with a whole octopus! It just melts in your mouth. Be careful it's hot! |
Must try street food: Takoyaki and Okonomiyaki! They taste different from those in Tokyo, in fact, I personally like the ones in Osaka better.
2. Side trip from Dotonbori:
- Shinsaibashi is a straight road full of places to shop. Go visit 100 yen shops for accessories, bags and other things, they
also have DAISO and drug stores that sell cheap make up, shampoos and
other useful things.
- Nipponbashi Denden Town: it is the Akihabara of Osaka, with a lot of anime shops, arcades, gacha shops and game stores.
- Namba walk in Namba Station: a long underground shopping mall
3. Go to an Arcade
For those who loves arcades, go to Round 1 which you can find in a lot of places like Shinshaibashi and Umeda. They have machines like Dance Evolution Arcade, Mai Mai, and of course UFO Catcher machines with lots of cute dolls and even figurines to catch!

4. Universal Studio Japan
| In front of the ride Harry Potter and The Forbidden Journey |
This is a MUST if you are going to Osaka and love amusement parks or if you are a fan of Harry Potter. Because Universal Studio Japan has The Wizarding World of Harry Potter!
It really feels like you're inside the Harry Potter world! With the meticulous details in building, sceneries, trees, and shops.
My favourite ride would be Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey!

Don't forget to visit Ollivander's store to get your wand chosen! Or can I say, the wand chooses you! If you enter, you will be able to see a "magic show" where the shop assistant helps the customer (if you're lucky you can get chosen) to pick a wand and try it. If you do buy a wand, you can cast spells at certain spots in the village and watch as the magic flows out of you!

5. Go to an Owl Cafe
Owl Family Cafe ( a.k.a fukurou mise cafe ) is located close to Minami-morimachi station
It is open from Tuesday to Friday from 12.00 - 20.00. Entrance fee is 1000 yen which includes a drink and 1 hour entry. You can take pictures with the owl as long as you don't use flash that might scare them. Do follow the rules given and explained in the cafe for everyone's safety ;)

6. Take a train to Kyoto and Nara
Kyoto is only half an hour train ride away from Osaka.
You can go to Kyoto station from Osaka station using the Special Rapid service on the
JR Kyoto Line. The Special Rapid Train will get you to Kyoto Station in 29 minutes for 560 yen!

Travelling to Nara, you can go to Osaka Namba Station and take a Rapid Express train on the Kintetsu Nara Line will get you to Kintetsu Nara Station in 39 minutes for 560 yen.

So yeah, that's it for my list of top things to do when travelling to Osaka! I always make my own itienary and use google maps to travel. It's more convenient and feels more productive than joining tours. Do visit www.japan-guide.com it is a very good website for updates on seasons, and places to travel in Japan.
